What "AI tutor + live teachers" should mean
A useful hybrid has two clear jobs. Live teachers run core academics with a real group of kids. An AI tutor helps during practice: pacing problems, offering hints, and keeping work moving when a parent cannot sit beside every stuck moment.
Plenty of products use both words without delivering both jobs. Some are tutor apps beside another school. Some put adaptive software in charge of the morning and use adults mainly as guides. How to compare hybrid online schools
- Who teaches math, English, science, and history live, and how many hours each week?
- Is there a stable peer group, or is every session a new room?
- What does the AI do when the child is stuck: hints, or finished answers?
- Are you buying a full school day, a few live hours, a campus AI model, or a tutor app?
- Who issues transcripts, and how does enrollment work in your state?
- What grades are served, and what happens after the top grade?
If a site will not answer those plainly, keep shopping.
Recess Academy
At Recess, people run the school day. Every school morning, math, English, science, and history are taught live in a morning learning pod (the same small group of kids with the same Recess adult). Units have explicit mastery criteria, so a child moves forward when they have shown they understand the material.
