Weekly Short Story for Teens
Write a new short story every week, experimenting with technique, style, genre, and more!
Hosted by 1 expert guide
In this class we deep dive into a different element, style, genre, or approach to creative writing each week!
- Ever-Changing Creative Playground: Each week brings a brand-new element or genre—maybe it’s writing compelling dialogue, crafting science fiction, or experimenting with epistolary storytelling. No two sessions are the same!
- Game-Like, Low-Stress Format: 20 minutes of interactive instruction lead into 20–25 minutes of guided writing based on a prompt—with optional sharing. The structure feels like a friendly challenge, not an assignment, keeping the pressure low and the fun high.
- Taught by Real Authors: Every lesson is delivered by published authors who bring authenticity, insight, and encouragement to the experience.
What Happens in Class
- Weekly Theme & Storytelling Mechanics - Dive into a fresh writing focus—like crafting believable dialogue, exploring speculative worlds, or using letters or diary formats.
- Guided Examples and Discussion (~20 min) - The instructor breaks down the week’s topic with relatable examples and invites class input—like a low-stakes brainstorm session.
- Prompt-Based Writing (~20–25 min) - Students use the prompt to write their own short story or scene. They can choose to write it by hand or type it.
- Optional Sharing & Community Vibe - At the end, students can share aloud—but it’s totally optional. It’s more like teammates cheering than grading.
- Flexible Enrollment - Join for just one session to explore, or come back week after week.
