Vibe Code Your Own Games

Don't just play games. Build them!

Summer Camps
Organized by Recess

Hosted by 2 expert guides

This summer we're running a Vibe Coding camp on Recess. Vibe coding is a new way to build software where you describe what you want and AI tools like Claude Code and Codex help you write the code. Your kid doesn't need to know how to code. They need to know what they want to build.

Over 8 sessions across 4 weeks, your kid will set up a real development environment, learn how to use AI coding tools, and build at least one working game they can share with a link.

What Your Kid Will Do

  1. Set up their tools Your kid will get their development environment ready and learn how AI coding tools like Claude Code and Codex actually work. By the end of the first session they'll already be building something
  2. Brainstorm and plan their game What kind of game do they want to make? A platformer? A puzzle game? A clicker? They'll come up with their idea and start turning it into something real
  3. Build and iterate This is where it comes together. Your kid will go back and forth with the AI tools, testing, fixing, and improving their game. They'll learn how to describe what they want, troubleshoot when things break, and push their game further
  4. Ship it Your kid finishes their game and gets a shareable link they can send to anyone. Friends, family, whoever. They made a game and anyone can play it

What They'll Need

  • A computer (Mac, Windows, or Linux. No Chromebooks or tablets)
  • No coding experience required That's the whole point of vibe coding. The AI writes the code, your kid drives the vision

How It Works

  • 8 sessions over 4 weeks (2 days per week)
  • Ages 8 to 14
  • Small groups so your kid gets real help when things break
  • Daily feedback You'll get a personal message after day one and a wrap-up at the end about your kid's progress and what they built

About the Guides

Felipe and Ben are the game developers behind Quest, an educational game studio. They spend most of their day building games and software and they're excited to coach your kid through doing the same. They run the coding and game dev classes on Recess during the school year.
