Welcome to the "Gingerbread AT-AT" build and HOLIDAY kick-off PARTY!
Star Wars fans, Science & Space Tech lovers, Inventors, Engineers and Future Astronauts will gather with like-minded friends to kick off the holiday season by building the Gingerbread AT-AT set under the guidance of their favorite Rocket Science instructor, Teacher Tom! We'll be learning, comparing, and contrasting real life Rocket Science with that used in the Star Wars Universe!
This will be a fun and informal class, where Teacher Tom will discuss & share with learners which applications of Rocket Science in the Star Wars franchise are realistic, which are futuristic, and which simply do not fly… (pun intended).
Learners should have bag # 1 open with their pieces organized into types before class begins. This will help you start your build off strong. Teacher Tom will display the instructions on his screen while building alongside you.
You may need to pause building for a moment here and there to see some cool photos and videos and learners can ask questions anytime.
Here is some info about the "Gingerbread AT-AT" set:
-This is a Star Wars themed holiday set that you can display when you are done building it. -This is an 697-piece set. -This is an authentic replica model with inside & outside, and hatches to open & see inside, driven by a visible interplay of string, hinges, and pulleys. -This set includes a minifigure of Gingerbread Darth Vader with a candy cane element and a Lightsaber.
We will end class by showing off our set progress, deciding where we will display them, and wrapping up any last questions that we have about what we learned in class.
It is expected that learners will build at different paces and is normal if some learners do not finish their builds in class. Learners are welcome to post pictures in the classroom of their completed and displayed builds if they wish.
Since we will spend a while together building, learners are welcome to bring their holiday themed snacks, eggnog, hot chocolate, gingerbread cookies, or whatever keeps them motivated and feeling festive.
Why build this set with Teacher Tom? -He is a Rocket Science teacher! (In fact, you may be able to spot him in his Indiana Jones hat on one of the various livestreams of the upcoming Starship Launch. Eta Oct 13 2025) -He is an Analog Astronaut assigned to a crewed mission at MDRS in 2026! -He has the smartest and coolest STEM learners around and you should get to hang out with them also! -He teaches several Rocket Science and Engineering classes, including his popular "The Way Things Work," classes. -He is a SPACE expert and can answer ALL of your SPACE TECH and ROCKET SCIENCE questions. -He was a professional builder who has built real-life ESCAPE ROOMS! -He has a Corgi named after Sir Isaac Newton who listens to him teach Rocket Science and Engineering all day every day without any complaints. (But also knocks over his Lego sets when they are not kept out of reach.) You are likely to spot Newton during class.
We can't wait for you to join us in this epic holiday kick-off party!
