RECESS NEWS

What's happening in the world, Recess and beyond

Social Clubs Storytelling
Organized by Lukas Stachtiaris

Hosted by 2 expert guides

Recess News is the premiere news source for all things Recess! In this course, kids will have an opportunity to explore their topics and media of choice. The goal of Recess News is to empower kids to explore journalism, podcasting, opinion writing, or any other interests, all while teaching fundamental journalistic practices.

Each week, you will engage in two interactive sessions:

  • Mondays: Collaborative brainstorming to pitch and develop story ideas.

  • Wednesdays: Sharing and constructive feedback on the week's work, fostering a supportive peer review environment.

The goal is to build something self-sufficient, a newsroom for kids and by kids. You will receive guidance in line with the integral moral frameworks of journalism (modeled by the Medill School of Journalism).

A bit about your guide:

Luke is an experienced journalist from the Medill School of Journalism. His experience in journalism has allowed him to interview professional athletes and travel around the country covering stories. Lukas also works at a high school in New York City as a school social worker.
