Recess Juniors: First Online Adventure for Young Kids

Learn, laugh, and level up your tech skills while making new friends in the Recess universe!

Squads
Organized by Recess

Hosted by 3 expert guides

Recess Juniors is an introduction to the Recess community, specially designed for younger learners (ages 6–8) who are just getting started with online games and group activities. This course helps kids build the confidence and skills they need to participate in Recess Community Hour, while having fun with a variety of age-appropriate minigames.

Each week, kids will try a new game and practice key tech skills like opening links, using tabs, copying and pasting links, and exploring their Recess accounts, all with support from their guide and group.

Note: Parents may need to assist with basic setup at the beginning of the course.

What You'll Do:

  • Choose and play new minigames each week as a group
  • Practice how to open links, switch tabs, and navigate basic tech tools
  • Learn how to log in, use your Recess profile, and get ready for future events
  • Laugh a lot, explore together, and make new friends
  • Receive support and encouragement in a playful, low-pressure environment

What You'll Learn:

  • Tech Independence: Learn how to use your device confidently and responsibly
  • Game Navigation Skills: Try a wide variety of games across platforms
  • Collaboration: Play as a team and practice taking turns and sharing ideas
  • Communication: Express yourself, ask questions, and listen to others
  • Emotional Confidence: Learn to win, lose, and try again with a great attitude
  • Community Readiness: Build the skills needed to join Community Hour smoothly

What You'll Need:

  • A working camera and microphone
  • A laptop or desktop computer (Chromebooks are not recommended)
  • Help from a parent or guardian during setup (especially for first-time users)

Specific Squad Selection

Recess Juniors changes games each week, based on what the group wants to try and what works best for the kids in the room. These might include browser games, imagination-based word games, or digital board games.
