“Culinary Delight”

Grab your salt. Grab your pepper. It’s time for the fourth Jippity Game Jam!

Our theme this time around: “Culinary Delight.” That means food! Cooking, eating, or anything else that a chefly designer might get into. We have a template full of assets to get you started here, and as always, we will be available for office hours (sign up here). You have total freedom with your gameplay!

You could make:

• A time-management cooking game where you have to serve dishes to hungry customers;

• A pastry-decoration game where you slice cakes and pipe frosting onto scrumptious delicacies;

• A pie-eating contest where you mash buttons to chow through crust and berry filling with reckless abandon;

Or anything else you can come up with!

We can’t wait to see what you cook up.

Guidelines

Start your game on or after Monday, September 23 and submit it by 9:00 PM PST on Sunday, September 29.

You may use the assets we upload here, but it’s not required.
Any style of game is OK as long as it relates to “Culinary Delight.” We are looking for:

Creativity: dream up a novel concept or twist an old formula. Surprise us with your unique imagination!

Technique: good programming makes good games. Do your best to make your gameplay smooth and robust. Maximize the fun.

Style: art, writing, sound effects, and music give your game personality. Wow us with your cuisine-like touch.

Theming: “Culinary Delight” should be stewed deep in the foundation of your idea. Of course you may subvert our expectations! But keep the gastronomical theme in mind while you build.

Jacob and Kristen will be available for office hours Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Drop by for support or just to hang out. One submission per person, please.

We will play, review, and write personalized feedback for all submissions on Monday, September 30 and celebrate them at Recess on Tuesday, October 1. Every submission will be playable at Recess, too.

On top of that, all participants who submit a game are invited to play each game and vote for their favorites. Winners will receive… a mysterious prize…
