Learn to Run Your Own Money
Most adults were never taught what to do with the money they earn.
Here you'll learn how to grow your money instead of letting it sit. You'll learn how to spot the traps that wipe people out.
Starting at your age is a huge advantage! Money you invest at 15 has decades to grow, and you can't buy that time back later.
How it works
You get a paper trading account: real prices, real market, but fake money. Everything you do gets scored against the index, which is the benchmark professional investors measure themselves by.
Everyone can see everyone's trades. Before you buy, you have to explain why. When you're right, the group knows. When you're wrong, the group also knows, and that's how everyone gets better.
We'll start with 12 sessions, and the class can keep running for up to 10 months depending on the group's interest.
What we'll cover
1. Getting Started in the Stock Market Learn what investing is: How you buy a stock, why companies sell pieces of themselves to strangers, and why anyone would want to buy one.
2. The Market Is a Zero-Sum Game Exchanges, news channels, financial advisors, fund managers. Every one of them is a business, and you're the customer. Find out who gets paid and how, before you hand anyone your money.
3. Value What is a company actually worth? We'll explore how Warren Buffett answers that question, and how to tell a business that makes money from one that just sounds exciting.
4. Risk How to not lose everything on one bad idea. Spreading your bets, noticing when all your investments move together, and thinking through what could go wrong before it does.
5. Radical Transparency How to look at your own decisions honestly, especially the bad ones. Most investors avoid thinking about their losses, but you won't.
6. Due Diligence How to find good ideas early: Spotting trends, big shifts, and new technology before the crowd catches on.
