Figma Friends Design Club
Jam and design websites, games, apps and more
Hosted by 1 expert guide
Note: The Figma Crash Course is a prerequisite for this class!
Do you like mixing things? Well, if you like mixing psychology, engineering, art, communication and problem solving together, you might just be a designer.
Welcome to the Figma Design Club. We design apps, websites, games and other (mostly) digital products. Each week we will explore a design technique together, before diving into your own individual projects. I’ll guide you and help develop the technical skills you need to make cool and groovy technology.
Concepts Encountered:
- Types of design: UI design, UX design, Product Design, Web Design
- Design thinking: Iterative design, wireframing, user experience
- Design principles: Hierarchy, consistency, gestalt principles
- Skill areas: Typography, colors, communication, style and taste
Some potential project ideas:
- A personal portfolio website or blog
- A game, perhaps made with Jippity
- A wiki or statistics site
- Widgets: an MTG life counter, a metronome, a calculator, a Harry Potter spell generator, a flash card maker, etc.
Depending on the scope of your project, I may even be able to help you bring it to life in code using HTML, CSS and perhaps a bit of Javascript.
What you’ll need:
You should be comfortable using Figma. I would suggest taking the Figma Crash Course before you join this class. If you aren't sure, reach out to me and I'll advise you.
You may want a way to find/generate images and graphics. Midjourney is my favorite tool for this, but you might also use Unsplash, Canva, or Lexica. Of course, you can also find images directly on Google, or use your own photos.
If you know HTML and CSS, you can put those skills to use prototyping your designs on the web. But this is by no means required.
Pick a time
Age ranges are just suggestions! You can register for any cohort.
