Explore the Solar System
Explore the planets, moons, and all the amazing things that make up our cosmic neighborhood!
Hosted by 1 expert guide
Welcome to Explore the Solar System!
In this course, we’ll take a deep-dive into the awe-inspiring celestial objects that make up our Solar System.
We'll journey through the Solar System one world at a time — exploring the planets, what makes them unique, and the moons that orbit them. We'll venture beyond the planets to discover smaller but fascinating objects like asteroids and comets, and explore how they interact with Earth. We'll also uncover why things in the sky look the way they do from where we stand.
We'll discuss past and current space missions to understand how we came to learn what we know about our cosmic neighborhood, and use online tools like Stellarium to navigate the night sky — so that the next time you look up, you'll know exactly what you're looking at.
And, most importantly, we'll come to see that we're not just observers of space — each of us are a part of it, and we are incredibly lucky to be able to witness and learn about it all from our home on planet Earth.
What’s included:
- Guided exploration of the Solar System and beyond
- Science topics explained clearly and accessibly
- Skills to observe and identify objects in the night sky on your own
- Hands-on experience with online astronomy tools and resources
- A curiosity-sparking foundation for deeper independent exploration
