Astronomy 101: Exploring the Universe
Journey from our Solar System to distant stars, galaxies, and beyond — and discover our place in the Universe!
Hosted by 1 expert guide
Welcome to Astronomy 101: Exploring the Universe!
In this course, we'll take a journey through the Cosmos, exploring celestial objects, phenomena, and space exploration discoveries that help us understand the Universe and our place within it.
We'll begin close to home, exploring the planets, moons, asteroids, and comets that make up our Solar System. From there, we'll venture far beyond our cosmic neighborhood to discover stars, explore colorful nebulae, distant galaxies, black holes, and other awe-inspiring objects.
Along the way, we'll learn how astronomers study the Cosmos, explore the discoveries made possible by telescopes and space missions, and understand why things in the night sky look the way they do from Earth. We'll use online tools like Stellarium to navigate the night sky and learn to identify celestial objects from your own backyard.
And, most importantly, we'll come to see that we're not just observers of space — we're a part of it! We are all connected to the same Universe, and we're incredibly lucky to be able to explore and learn about it from our home on planet Earth. we
